All Souls Day

Hi! This is John Nemmer again. I would like to talk with you about All Souls Day. Now, All Souls Day is a day when we remember all people who died in God’s mercy, and went to Purgatory because they still had an addiction to sin. It's celebrated on November 2nd by all Catholics.

When someone dies, their soul leaves their body and goes before God. The life a person has led determines where God in His mercy and justice brings the soul. Our free will lead us to Heaven or Hell. It’s important to pray for the dead a lot, especially around All Souls Day. We all are sinners and need God’s mercy.

The souls in Purgatory are called holy because they are on their way to Heaven and can’t sin anymore. They need to be purified of the imperfections that sin leaves on us. Although they can’t pray for themselves, we can pray for them and they can pray for us. We can offer Masses, pray the Rosary, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet for our decease loved ones.

There is no way to tell where someone goes after death (except for the Saints and their miracles). However, we can be sure of this, God is love and mercy itself. He doesn’t need us but He still came to die for the salvation of all human souls. So we never should worry about people we know who have passed away. We should just pray and trust God will have mercy on those people and will bring them to everlasting life.

This All Souls Day, lets pray for all who died, that God might welcome them into His Heavenly Kingdom someday. May the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, the help of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of God the Father be with you all! Amen. Happy All Souls Day! John Nemmer
