The Rosary

Hi! This is John Nemmer again. I would like to talk with you about The Holy Rosary. After the Mass, it is the 2nd greatest prayer of our faith. Now the Rosary is the uppermost prayer to Mary our Heavenly Mother. Pope Gregory the Great started an earlier version of the Hail Mary prayer (otherwise known as the Rosary) and asked the Church to pray it on the fourth Sunday of Advent. Many people started to pray the Hail Mary over and over again with a string of beads to keep track of the prayers, which brought about the method of prayer of the Rosary.

Once the Church finished creating all of the Hail Mary prayer, the name “Rosary” was finally accepted in the year of 1597.

Pope Paul VI added the key moments of the life of Christ to the Rosary so we could meditate on them when we pray it. He added all of the Joyful, the Sorrowful, and the Glorious Mysteries to the Rosary. St. John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries when he became pope. The Rosary is a wonderful way to get closer to Jesus and Mary. Please pray it daily for the peace and love of Christ to reign in the whole world.

May the peace and joy of our Lord Jesus Christ, the help of the Holy Spirit, and the glory of God the Father be always with you all! Amen.
